THE 144,000
Tribulation Believers?
Although church-age believers (represented by the twenty-four elders) are in heaven during the tribulation period on earth, two groups of believers will be living on earth during this tragic time. One group comprises 144,000 people who God supernaturally protects from judgments and tragedies. The other group is an innumerable multitude who come from every nation and language and become believers during the tribulation.
When the fifth seal was opened, we saw the martyrs of history concerned with the justice and vengeance of God. In Revelation 6:11, a statement appears about those whose death is yet to happen.
This chapter teaches about those who become believers during the tribulation period and suffer martyrdom. We also learn about a group of Jewish believers who do not suffer martyrdom but are rather used by God to spread His message of salvation to the world. This could make one wonder, "how can there be believers in the tribulation? Yes.
Today we will address the sealed servants of God - the 144,000. Who are they?
